Before visiting Echo Ranch there are some important things that you need to know. These facts may help to improve your stay with us. As always, please contact us if you have any questions.
We need volunteers for summer 2010. Let us know if you might be interested.
Location | Echo Ranch is located 40 miles north of Juneau. The highway stops at Echo Cove and our camp sits 2 miles around the shoreline along side Point Bridget State Park and Berners Bay. Visitors must walk. Be prepared to make the walk along the shore by wearing hiking shoes or rubber boots. If you are unable to walk around the cove for medical reasons please contact us so that we can make special arrangements. Retreats groups are allowed to bring bicycles but we will not transport them with the luggage.
|
Power | Because of our location we must generate our own power. The generator runs 24 hours a day and provides energy to the main buildings at base camp. CABINS DO NOT HAVE ELECTRICITY. All of the cabins contain a wood stove to help provide heat. Please remember to bring a flashlight. If you happen to need power for a medical reason, please let us know. |
Facilities |
Ladies Bathhouse |
Guys Bathhouse |
We have two bathhouses, one for the ladies and one for the guys. The bathhouses have hot and cold running water, toilets, showers, and sinks. You can also plug in items that need electricity like shavers and curling irons. Please bring your own toiletry items. There are also outhouses located around camp. We have a gym, dining hall, chapel, sports field, canoeing, mini-golf, and horse barn to name a few points of interest. |
Meals |
Meals are served at our dining hall three times a day. 5 minutes before each meal our siren will ring and the siren will ring again indicating the meal is ready. After each meal the staff will begin to clean the tables and the floors. For retreat groups we have coffee and hot chocolate available between meals and you are welcome to use our dining to play board games or just to sit and look at the amazing view of Berner's Bay. If you have special food needs please let us know. There is a refrigerator in the dining hall for our guests to use. |
Communication | We have an amplified cell phone in our office that is used for basic camp business and emergencies. The weather and our location do not make this a reliable source of communication. However, we also have a marine radio phone that can also be used to call out. The camp office in Juneau is where most of our information centers. |
Weather | The weather at Echo Ranch can vary from in-town. Please be prepared for rain or shine. You can check the conditions by viewing the FAA camera looking out towards Berners Bay on our property by clicking here |
