Come & See

A retreat for supporters and friends of Echo Ranch

The Come & See Retreat is meant to be a time of refreshment for our guests and a space for our staff to slow down enough to join in some fun together.  We’re looking forward to spending the week in fellowship together and sharing with you a taste of what life and ministry at Echo Ranch are like. We’ll provide a schedule of activities and excursions that will allow each participant to enter into the "feel" of camp life, see and learn more details of our ministry, and have fun enjoying some of the highlights of camp. That said, there will be few expectations or mandatory events; we want you to feel the freedom to relax and enjoy the beauty of Alaska in the context of Echo Ranch.

The retreat officially begins the evening of Monday, September 15 with dinner at camp, and ends after lunch at camp on Friday, September 19. Below you can find more information about the schedule, arrival and departure times, lodging, and more. If you’re ready to sign up to Come and See, click the button below to be taken to our registration portal! (You will need the password provided to you by your inviting ERBC staff member.)

  • Anyone who has not previously attended Come & See and is invited by one of our full-time staff members. Singles, couples, and families are all welcome.

  • The recommended arrival date to Juneau is Monday, September 15. The retreat officially begins Monday evening. If you arrive earlier than Monday in Juneau and need lodging, please ask your inviting staff member about lodging availability before making plans. We are hosting a different group until Monday, so we cannot guarantee that we will have lodging for you at camp or in Juneau on Sunday night (or earlier).

We recommend departing on either Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning. You are welcome to stay at camp on Friday night. If you need additional lodging beyond Friday night, please ask your inviting staff member about availability before making plans.

You are of course welcome to arrange your own lodging for additional nights in Juneau before or after the retreat.

  • The Come & See Retreat is free! We accept optional love offerings to help cover costs if you feel led, but this retreat is our gift to you as our invited guests. Participants will only need to cover their travel costs to and from Juneau as well as costs of any additional lodging or tourist activities in Juneau before or after the retreat.

  • There is a large variety of housing options at camp, everything from rustic cabins to fully equipped modern homes. Come & See is kept as a small retreat so that we can provide our nicest accommodations to our guests. Echo Ranch is careful to understand the particular needs of guests and provide what will accommodate them well.  Wherever you stay, you can expect lodging with electricity, modern private bathrooms (you will not need to use camper bathhouses, however, some of our guest cabins share separate restroom facilities), and comfortable beds. We will not lodge you in a camper cabin unless you specifically request it. Bedding and towels will be provided.

  • Some of the optional activities on the schedule will include: fishing and crabbing, horse rides, zipline rides, a hike near camp, shopping at our camp store, and campfires, board games, and fellowship in the evenings. We will also have devotionals each morning before breakfast and short presentations from our staff about different departments of camp each evening after dinner.

  • One of our staff will pick you up from the Juneau airport. Camp is located on scenic Berners Bay, about a 1-hour drive away, with the last two and a half miles on an unpaved beach road that is passable with a 4×4 vehicle. Depending on how high the tide is, you might instead take a boat the last two miles to camp.

We will also provide transportation back to the airport for your departure.

  • September in southeast Alaska is generally chilly but not wintery; temperatures tend to be in the 40s or 50s during the day, but warmer, sunny days are also possible. Rain is frequent here (we are located in a rainforest), so make sure to bring a good rain jacket and boots or waterproof outdoor shoes.
