You got close to God at camp. Now what?

We’re thrilled that your faith was encouraged - or begun! - during your time at camp. But true faith in Christ is a lifelong, growing trust in him, and your faith cannot live and grow without support. Now that you’re home from camp and back in the “real world,” with all its pressures and temptations, it’s time to think about what your next steps are to maintain and grow your faith. That’s what this page is here to guide you in.

Below, you’ll find resources for the following major needs for your faith to survive and thrive:

  • Church community

Charles Spurgeon put it best: “A Christian is not meant to be a solitary being.” Church isn’t just a weekly event, it’s a community where we go to be encouraged by our brothers and sisters in Christ, hear the Word of God, serve one another, and be reminded of the Gospel that we constantly forget. If you’re a Christian, you need to get involved in a church.

  • Meeting God in His Word

Similar to church, as Christians, we don’t read the Bible because it earns us “holy points” or just to get a reminder of God’s rules for living. We read it because the main way God speaks to us is through His written Word. God can make even the same passages you’ve read before come alive in a new way to your heart. Regularly digging into your Bible is the chief way to grow as a Christian.

  • Finding Answers to Tough Questions

New believers are often troubled by doubts that come up as they learn more about their faith, but doubts are not an inherently bad thing; they can often be a very good thing, as they can lead us to deeper faith as we find answers to them. It’s important to know where to find trustworthy answers to your questions and doubts.

Find the tools to start reading your Bible.

Learn about your faith and find answers to your questions.

Core Christianity

Core Christianity has a daily podcast (find it on Spotify or Apple Podcasts) answering questions from callers about Christianity, ranging from the very basics to tough questions and life issues.

They’ve recorded well over 1000 episodes, and they also have lots of articles and written resources on their website. Make use of the search feature to find the answer to the question you’re looking for!

Desiring God

Desiring God is a ministry started by John Piper, and has over 30 years’ worth of Christian resources, including sermons, articles, videos, and more.

A couple great features are Ask Pastor John, where you can search through answers John Piper has given to callers’ questions, and Solid Joys, a daily devotional by John Piper (find it under “Features” on the website’s main navigation).

The Bible Project

The Bible Project has tons of resources that are hugely helpful in understanding the Bible. If you’ve ever tried to read your Bible and got stuck because there was so much you didn’t understand, definitely check them out.

Their main resource is their short animated videos that explain what the Bible is about - including summaries and explanations of every book in the Bible. Before reading a new book of the Bible, it’s super helpful to watch their video to get the basic idea of what it’s about. (They’re also on YouTube.)
